SACAJ chases summer hit
With summer in full swing, the St Mary recording artiste SACAJ is hoping to provide its soundtrack.
The emerging reggae singer’s uplifting new single, Dance and Groove, delivers a breezy, feel-good record that celebrates love, connection and the simple joy of letting the music take over. Produced by Fyah Luke and distributed worldwide by ONErpm, the single blends reggae warmth with soulful melodies and live instrumentation, creating a track designed for beach parties, road trips and late-night gatherings.
“I wrote Dance and Groove after meeting someone who just felt real – deep roots, calm energy, no drama,” SACAJ said. “We didn’t need much, just music and a vibe. That’s what I wanted the song to capture.” That authenticity is quickly becoming the singer’s calling card.
Recorded at the legendary Tuff Gong Studios, Dance and Groove showcases SACAJ’s rich, expressive vocals over Fyah Luke’s polished production, with the Black Diamond Band providing the musical backbone. The result is an easy-going groove that feels equally at home on a summer playlist or a dance floor.
The single also serves as the first taste of SACAJ’s debut EP, a project she has been quietly crafting alongside Fyah Luke and the Black Diamond Band.
For SACAJ, music has always felt less like a career choice than a calling.
“Corny as it may sound, I believe music chose me,” she admitted. “I actually spent the greater part of my life avoiding a career in music because I was shy.” That hesitation has given way to confidence. Already known for songs such as Mary Jane and One More Day, featuring reggae veteran Louie Culture, SACAJ says her songwriting draws inspiration from everyday life and genuine human experiences.
“I draw inspiration from everywhere,” she said. “No one aside from the people I’m working on the project with has heard the songs yet.”
Breaking through in today’s music industry is no easy task, and SACAJ is realistic about the challenges facing emerging artistes.
“The music space is really saturated right now,” she said. “But with the right sound, the right team and the right music, I believe this upcoming project will be a success.”
If Dance and Groove is any indication, SACAJ may be taking the first step towards making that belief a reality.
