Homeless man buried beneath collapsed container during Hurricane Melissa

Residents of Little Haiti in Negril woke up to tragedy on Wednesday morning after the body of a homeless man was discovered partially buried beneath a collapsed container the edge of the community.

The man, identified only as Jermaine, was said to have been living in the area for several years. He was often seen walking along Norman Manley Boulevard and sleeping beneath a nearby container.

According to residents, Jermaine was last seen taking shelter from the heavy rains brought by Hurricane Melissa. It is believed that strong winds caused the crater to give way during the night while he was resting.

His full identity has not yet been disclosed.
