A swan caused major disruption to all trains in Glasgow.

Services descended into chaos for two hours after the bird landed on train tracks on Monday.

ScotRail told passengers that all trains to and from the Scottish city's Central station were delayed because of "animals on the railway".

By 6 p.m., Network Rail updated the public, saying the animal was a swan, and 20 minutes later, the animal was "safely removed" from the train tracks.

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: "Good news, the swan has been moved and is now safely away from the railway.

"It's a little distressed, but recovering well. Thank you for your patience."

Pet owners taking time off to bond with animals

Pet owners are taking time off work to bond with their cats or dogs when they first bring them home.

In total, 2,000 owners were surveyed by Wisdom Panel, a pet DNA testing service, and 76 per cent of respondents said it was important to spend time with their new addition for a good relationship to be built.

The poll also showed that some owners spent the day(s) playing with their animals (50 per cent), cuddling them (42 per cent) and giving them treats (36 per cent).

Caroline Wilkinson, an animal behaviourist, said: "Giving your pet time, patience and positive experiences helps build the trust that every healthy human animal bond relies on."
