A violent midday clash in Seaforth, St Thomas on Monday left two men dead, including a senior citizen who was fatally punched and the man accused of attacking him, who later died after falling while fleeing the scene.

The incident has prompted detectives assigned to the St Thomas Division to investigate a case of homicide and another of death by misadventure, both arising from the same incident on January 6, 2025.

The deceased have been identified as 75-year-old Joseph Douglas and 33-year-old Troy Beckford, both of Debtor Lane, Seaforth, St Thomas.

Reports are that about 1:30 p.m., Douglas and Beckford got into a dispute that escalated into violence. During the altercation, Beckford allegedly punched the elderly man, causing him to fall to the ground.

Beckford then reportedly fled the scene but fell during his escape and suffered serious injuries.

Both injured men were taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch.
